Optimized Designing of Solar Powered Direct Pumping Small Scale Sprinkler Irrigation Pipe Networks

Today, the agricultural sector world over is confronted with a water scarcity crisis and related numerous challenges. Harnessing scarce resources to meet irrigation requirement in more economical way without compromising sustainability very vital. The present study aims at applying EPANET2.2, hydraulic modelling tool, optimization design of solar-powered direct pumping sprinkler system. This has shown that designed system capacity 20.88 m3/hr per shift precipitation rate 6.02 mm/h. A submersible pump, Grundfos SP17-13, shall be installed, operating maximum head approximately 85 deliver up m3/hr. 48 number, 250 Watts monocrystalline panels and, are than sufficient peak 5.72 mm/day for tomato crop thus, demands other horticultural crops. Choice solar energy was majorly ascribed proven efficiency addition low costs involved operation maintenance.
